ICOMOS / ICOFORT  -  Initiatives for Protection of Fortified Monuments and Military Heritage

ICOMOS = International Council on Monuments and Sites,

is a non-governmental international organisation dedicated to the conservation of the world's monuments and sites.
ICOMOS is involved as a consultant and expert in the work of the World Heritage Committee and the fulfillment of UNESCO's World Heritage Convention. National committees already exist in more than 120 countries, and ICOMOS has also more than 25 International Scientific Committees.

ICOFORT = International Scientific Committee on Fortifications and Military Heritage,

is one of the Scientific Committees, supports ICOMOS with its advice. The subject of interest of ICOFORT is to take care of fortifications and historic works of military engineering, battlefields, defence installations and commemorative monuments.

ECCOFORT supports the aims and activities of ICOMOS / ICOFORT especially in Europe.
